FILM DOCUMENTARY:
“THE LOST SHIPS OF ROME”

In 2009, a team of marine archaeologists carrying out a sonar survey around the island of Ventotene made an astonishing discovery. The wrecks of five ancient roman ships were found in pristine condition. Much of the cargo remained intact. What happened to these ancient ships was a mystery. Why had they traveled to this remote island in the first place? In ancient roman history the island was occupied by the Romans and used as a prison. Lost Ships Of Rome follows the team as they explore the site, salvage artifacts and piece together why the ships were lost at Ventotene 2000 years ago.
